Today we went out to the beach area near the coast. Omgosh! It was super cold today because the wind was blowing so hard there. The sea spray was in the air and the wind would knock you backwards! We initially went to see the seals by the fish docks at Dun Laghoire. Angie saw the seals over the edge but I couldn’t get that close because I was fighting the wind. Angie said she could not breathe the wind was blowing so hard! The ferry goes out of there back to England too nearby.
Next we ended up at the James Joyce tower Sandy Cove. There we walked out to the 40 foot baths. It’s this shear cliff face where the waves crash into the rocks below. There the wind was bad too! At one point Christina walked down to the front near the cliffs edge where the sea spray had made the floor wet. All of a sudden a HUGE wave crashed into the cliff and shot up in the air to the top where she and some kids were standing. We heard screams and then turned around I see the huge splash come down on top of them while they tried to get away. Pior Chrisina was soaked. Might have been ok for her but IT WAS COLD!!
We walked around on the other side to see maybe 20 people getting into swim suits …and it 40 degrees outside to go take a polar bear swim. Crazy people!! They went in one by one nearly naked while people on the sides started gathering to watch. Funny thing was he people watching were bundled up and you only see faces. These other crazy people were swimming out in really choppy water to the a bouie marker and back. One guy got a little lost and swam in different toward some rocks. His family went out to help him.
We went by Bono’s house in and saw the gate where people used to write messages to him. He had it covered and bars put over it but kept it to where you could still see the writing.
We finished up our ride with a trip through Graystone where we got some goodies at the Happy Pear. The apple I got there was really good tasting. It’s a type of veggie place with produce, restaurant, and cafe.
We regrouped at Chrisina’s house and then we piled back in the car for a trip to City Center to tour the Jameson Whiskey factory. That your was MUCH better than the Guiness factory. The tour was cheaper and actually guided. Angie was picked to do a super taste test where each person tried a Irish Jameson, American Jack Daniels, and Scottish Whiskey. Believe it or not but the Jameson is awesome! Triple distilled so it’s really smooth and no burn. I got to sample the Jameson and cranberry. You can’t taste it in there and could get wasted if you didn’t watch it !
Capped off the evening with some Baliey’s Hot chocolate at the Central Hotel.
Completely crashed…but slept well cause I had the bed!
